Polished Goniatites

Goniatites must not be confused with their more famous descendants, Ammonites, which lived 200 million years after them. These Devonian Goniatites are from the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, and are around 370 million years old. Goniatites, Ceratites, and Ammonites can be easily distinguished by the pattern of the suture lines on the shell.
